KAGUA — Three Belgian-Style Ales with a Japanese Point of View

KAGUA is where Belgian brewing tradition meets the distinctive flavors of Japan.

Created by Far Yeast Brewing and brewed in Belgium at Brewery De Graal, each KAGUA begins with a classic Belgian-style ale and introduces Japanese aromatics such as yuzu and sansho pepper.

The result is not novelty beer. These are serious, beautifully made ales with fragrance, structure, and a natural place at the table.

The collection includes three very different expressions:

KAGUA Blanc — bright, creamy, citrusy, and refreshing
KAGUA Saison — fruity, dry, and exceptionally drinkable
KAGUA Rouge — dark, rich, spicy, and warming

Why We Like Them

KAGUA treats beer with the same thoughtfulness we look for in wine.

Each bottle has its own personality. Blanc is lifted by fragrant yuzu and a creamy wheat texture. Saison is drier, lighter, and made for effortless drinking. Rouge combines roasted malt with the aromatic spice of sansho.

They are flavorful without being loud, unusual without being difficult, and complex without losing the simple pleasure of drinking a good beer.

Pour them into a proper glass, open them with food, and discover how different three Belgian-style ales can be.

KAGUA BLANC

Bright, Creamy and Fragrant

KAGUA Blanc is a Belgian-style pale strong ale brewed with malted barley, wheat, hops, herbs, and beer yeast.

It pours a pale, cloudy yellow with a creamy head. Fresh yuzu leads the aroma, accompanied by the naturally spicy, slightly clove-like character produced by the Belgian yeast.

The palate brings together subtle malt, gentle hop bitterness, bright citrus, and a smooth wheat-derived creaminess.

At 8% alcohol, Blanc has the strength of a serious Belgian ale, but its fragrance and freshness keep it remarkably lively.

What It Tastes Like

Yuzu peel, citrus blossom, gentle spice, soft malt, wheat creaminess, and a clean touch of bitterness.

Food Pairings

KAGUA Blanc works beautifully with sushi, sashimi, tempura, fried chicken, grilled fish, seafood, dumplings, light curries, fresh cheeses, salads, and dishes seasoned with citrus or herbs.

For Wine Stop’s EATS by Wine Stop pairings, Blanc fits especially well with:

Sushi & Poke
Fried Chicken
Thai
Greens & Bowls

KAGUA SAISON

Fruity, Dry and Refreshing

KAGUA Saison is the lightest and driest expression in the collection.

Inspired by traditional Belgian farmhouse ales, it combines a bold yuzu aroma with the sharp, fragrant character of sansho.

It pours dark gold with a creamy head. The palate is juicy and citrus-driven, but finishes dry and refreshing rather than sweet. At 6% alcohol and 20 IBU, it is flavorful, balanced, and extremely drinkable.

Saison is the KAGUA to open when you want aromatic complexity without the weight of a stronger ale.

What It Tastes Like

Fresh yuzu, citrus peel, orchard fruit, Belgian yeast, fragrant sansho, gentle bitterness, and a crisp, dry finish.

Food Pairings

KAGUA Saison is excellent with grilled chicken, sausages, pizza, tacos, seafood, fried foods, salads, goat cheese, fresh herbs, spicy dishes, and anything served outdoors around a table.

For Wine Stop’s EATS by Wine Stop pairings, Saison fits especially well with:

Pizza
Tacos & Mexican
Fried Chicken
Greens & Bowls

KAGUA ROUGE

Rich, Spicy and Warming

KAGUA Rouge is the darker, richer side of the collection.

This Belgian-style dark strong ale combines roasted malt with sansho — the fragrant Japanese pepper known for its citrusy aroma, gentle spice, and lightly tingling finish.

Rouge pours a rosy dark copper color with a long-lasting creamy head. The aroma balances roasted malt with fragrant sansho, while the palate brings together malt richness, measured sweetness, hop bitterness, and a refreshing spicy finish.

It has depth, but it is not heavy. It has richness, but it is not sugary. It has spice, but it is not hot or aggressive.

This is the KAGUA for red wine drinkers, dark beer drinkers, and anyone who wants more structure, warmth, and savory complexity in the glass.

What It Tastes Like

Roasted malt, dark caramel, fragrant spice, gentle bitterness, and a smooth, warming finish lifted by sansho.

Food Pairings

Open KAGUA Rouge with yakitori, ramen, grilled meats, mushrooms, burgers, Korean BBQ, roasted pork, dumplings, miso-based dishes, teriyaki, sukiyaki, unagi, or anything with soy, smoke, char, glaze, or umami.

For Wine Stop’s EATS by Wine Stop pairings, Rouge fits especially well with:

Dumplings, Noodles & Korean BBQ
BBQ, Steaks & Backyard Grill
Burgers & Fries
Tacos & Mexican, particularly when the flavors are grilled, smoky, or braised

Which KAGUA Should You Choose?

Choose Blanc when you want something bright, aromatic, creamy, and citrus-driven.

Choose Saison when you want something fruity, dry, refreshing, and easy to drink.

Choose Rouge when you want something darker, richer, spicier, and more structured.

Better yet, try all three. They were created to show three completely different ways Belgian brewing tradition can meet Japanese flavor.

Serve Them Like This

Serve KAGUA chilled, but not ice-cold. Allowing the beer to warm slightly in the glass will reveal more of its citrus, spice, malt, and yeast-derived aromas.

A tulip glass, wine glass, or small stemmed beer glass works beautifully.

The Wine Stop Take

Yes, KAGUA costs more than ordinary beer. It should.

These are not interchangeable six-pack beers made simply to be cold and familiar. Each KAGUA is a carefully composed Belgian-style ale with its own aroma, structure, flavor, and place at the table.

Blanc brings yuzu brightness and creamy texture. Rouge brings roasted malt and warming sansho spice. Saison brings juicy citrus, dryness, and farmhouse refreshment.

Three distinctive beers. Three completely different drinking experiences. One thoughtful collection worth discovering.
